Mayor Bifolchi issued the same brief response to each of the taxpayers who had taken the time to express in writing their concerns and questions regarding the Town's proposed changes to Indemnification Policy. The clerk's response to taxpayers' dismay that their letters were not read aloud at the Special Committee Meeting are included below as well.

Good morning,
Thank you for your email.

There seems to be confusion by a few regarding Bill 187. I encourage you to watch yesterday’s council meeting as the Clerk addresses this matter.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRO1adaUNhw

The Town has a website page dedicated to COVID-19 and I encourage you to check it regularly for up to date information. www.wasagabeach.com/Pages/COVID-19-UPDATES.aspx

Here is a link to yesterday’s media release. The release speaks to suspended fees and charges during this time as well as many more important topics and links you may find helpful. www.wasagabeach.com/Document%20Library/Press%20release%20COVID-19%20Message%206.pdf

Good Morning:

I just want to address a couple of points you raise due to their procedural nature, but unfortunately I won’t have further responses on this matter.

With regards to reading letters aloud, this was not part of the process that was put in place, and Council decided not to allow this.

With regards to pecuniary interest, it is not the role of the CAO or the Clerk or any staff for that matter, to give an opinion or determine when a council member may have a pecuniary interest.  It is the responsibility of each member to determine their own status.

Trusting this clarifies your questions,

Dina Lundy

Director of Legislative Services and Clerk
