The June meeting showcased a unified vision between town leadership and key developers. Mayor Brian Smith outlined a massive economic transformation for the town, highlighted by over $459 million in public and private investments that aim to create over 1,700 local jobs. The proof of this progress is already visible. In June 2026, Costco officially broke ground on a $50 million investment that will create over 370 jobs, accompanied by new Food Basics and Shoppers Drug Mart locations. That same month, shovels hit the dirt for a $62.2 million K-12 school and community hub. Also, council secured a provincial investment for 288 new long-term care beds through peopleCare Communities, making it the largest project of its kind in the South Georgian Bay region.

The direct benefits of council's collaboration with developers were further highlighted by the evening's guest speakers. Kenny Gibson, president and CEO of Sunray Group, detailed the upcoming Marriott Hotel project, which will help transition Wasaga Beach into a year-round tourist destination. Demonstrating a commitment to the community, Sunray is financially backing the new Festival Square public gathering space and keeping the main beach entirely open to the public.

The WBRA Executive greatly appreciates the support of its members and concerned taxpayers who attended the Public General Meeting.
